Subscriptions and billing order
Subscriptions provide resources within a plan’s scope; wallets pay for usage from their balance. Review plan benefits, token group, and billing preference together.
Check before purchasing
On Subscriptions, review:
- Whether benefits are credits or request counts.
- Total and per-period resources and reset rules.
- Validity and current status.
- Eligible models, vendors, and groups.
- Purchase limits and activation rules.
The current purchase page states that subscriptions cannot stack: wait for an active plan to end before buying the next one. Do not infer reset timing or resource accumulation from names such as daily or monthly; read the plan details.
Four billing preferences
Choose a billing order under My Subscriptions:
| Preference | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Subscription first | Try an eligible subscription first, then the wallet according to fallback rules |
| Wallet first | Try the wallet first, then an eligible subscription according to fallback rules |
| Subscription only | No wallet fallback; an ineligible or exhausted subscription can cause failure |
| Wallet only | Do not consume subscription resources |
Billing preference does not expand plan permissions or imply arbitrary splitting of one charge between two sources. Requests must still satisfy model, group, validity, and resource requirements.
Match the token to the plan
The token’s group must be eligible for the plan. If a plan has resources but a request uses the wallet or fails, check billing preference, token group, actual model, plan state, and remaining resources in that order.
Do not infer the charge source from the wallet balance or plan name alone. Send a small request and review its source and record in Usage logs.
Developer levels
An active subscription that changes the user group takes precedence over the developer-level group. Level and subscription multipliers do not stack, and level approval cannot switch the group while that conflict applies.
See Developer levels and tier discounts for group restoration and review rules. Top-up offers, developer multipliers, and subscription resources are separate mechanisms.
Expiry or exhausted resources
Check the expiry and next reset to distinguish period exhaustion from plan expiry. In subscription-only mode, a wallet balance does not automatically resolve a failed request.
To use wallet funds, review the consequences, change the billing preference, and check token group pricing. See Account and billing for charge interpretation.
