Kilo CLI with Nbility
This guide targets Kilo CLI releases using kilo.json / kilo.jsonc and AI SDK providers. See Kilo Code for the extension or Kilo for graphical setup.
Register a provider
Edit user-level ~/.config/kilo/kilo.json, adjusting for your XDG configuration directory:
{
"model": "nbility/YOUR_MODEL_ID",
"provider": {
"nbility": {
"npm": "@ai-sdk/openai-compatible",
"name": "Nbility",
"options": {
"baseURL": "https://api.nbility.ai/v1",
"apiKey": "{env:NBILITY_API_KEY}"
},
"models": {
"YOUR_MODEL_ID": {
"name": "Nbility model",
"limit": { "context": 8192, "output": 1024 }
}
}
}
}
}
Replace both YOUR_MODEL_ID occurrences with the same exact ID from Models. Adjust the illustrative context and output limits to the real model.
Supply the key and launch
export NBILITY_API_KEY="YOUR_API_KEY"
kilo
Confirm the Nbility model in the session’s picker, test plain text, and check Usage logs.
Troubleshooting
Keep environment references in user-level configuration. A project kilo.jsonc can override settings, and project variable expansion may depend on version or trust policy. If a reference stays unexpanded, check the release’s documentation and launch environment rather than committing a real key.
If your installed release uses a different format, use its provider wizard or matching official documentation.
